Students decorated their own peace symbols and then we talked about what 'peace' meant to them personally. We did a mind map of words on the whiteboard!

Students choose one sense: smell, look, taste, feel, sound and illustrated their own page. These page will become a book that will be added to the Sunway Library collection!
Pinwheel For Peace
We have decorate some pinwheels in symbols of peace! These pinwheels will be on display around the school campus till the end of the month!

Teaching Peace

One by one in our work and in our play
We are teaching peace by what we do and what we say
We watched "Terry Fox: Anything's Possible" and discussed the video. Student then posed questions about Terry that they wanted to know. We will find out the answers through research this week.
After the video students read a short recap of information about Terry and answered some questions.
We also did a Canadian word search and decorated some flags!
Yesterday we did an interactive map of Mesopotamia and talked about the importance of the two rivers and did a little quiz on location and information pertaining to the map!
For Malaysia week- We looked at some traditional clothing and made some paper dolls!
We
have been focusing on learning aboutMalaysiathis week and the
significance of National Day and Malaysia Day!
The
week of Sept 12th- 14th isCanada Week. On Friday,
September 14th, beginning at 9:00 AM, we will have the Terry Fox
Walk around Emerald Lake. Terry Fox, a Canadian hero who attempted to
walk across Canada while suffering from cancer, is the inspiration for this
event. All classes will have coin jars for the week. Students are
encouraged to bring in loose change for this collection; all monies will be
forwarded to support cancer research in Malaysia.
The
week of Sept 18th – 21st will bePeace Week. On Thursday,
September 20th at 9:30 AM, students will assemble to celebrate peace
and the virtue of empathy through the spoken word, music and visual arts.
All parents are invited!
The
week of Sept 24th – 28th will be MulticulturalWeek. On the
morning of Friday, September 28th, our school community will put on
display the various cultures we have at our school. Many students and parents
will be involved in helping us understand culture through food, dress, art,
music and many other activities. Again, we hope you can participate and
join us on this day.

Tomorrow we will have our first little activity to celebrate the beautiful country we live in, Malaysia . Students will be learning how to play a traditional game called: Congkak
Next we will be doing a reading and responding activity with an informational text, called "My Little Book about Malaysia".
